Bromo volcano is located in the Bromo Tengger National Park (BTNP). It's a sophisticated one. It's very easy to get there. It's about 1000 – 3676 metres from the sea level. Bromo Tengger Semeru is mountanious and it is the biggest one in Java.
Beside for tourism industry, Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is also for researching the development of knowledge, education, conservation of nature. It's done by a technic unit for Forestry and Nature Conservation Department, Forestry Department
According to Schmidt and Ferguson, the climate of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is type C and D. The rainy season is begin on October and end on March. The temperature is about 7 – 18 celcius degree
The vegetation type of it is mountanious Rainy forest. It consists of Alfin Forest, Cemara (a spruce / casuarina) forest, plain and caldera vegetation. And the plants are Cemara (Casuarina Junghuhniana), Akasia (Accasia Decurens), Mentigi (vacinium varingae folium), Adas (anethum graveolens), Senduro or Tan Alayu or Edelwies flower (anaphalis javanica) and many kinds of orchids in the South of Semeru. The animals that we can find in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park are deer (cervus timorensis), hind (muntiacus muncak), budeng / monkey (presbytis cristata), pita bird (pitta guajana), rangkok (rhysticeros undulatus), bido (spilomischeela bido) and belibis bird (anas supercilosa)
The gate to go to Laut Pasir (Sea of Sand) and Bromo mountain, you have to go to Cemorolawang village first. It's the noisiest place. You can camp, enjoy the scenery, go to Sea of Sand by horse or on foot. To go to pick of Bromo mountain, you go to through the stairs. The sunrises is a beautiful scenery in Bromo mountain, you can see at 04.00 am when you are in Cemorolawang
The route of Cemorolawang is Probolinggo – Tongas / Ketapang – Sukapura – Ngadisari – Cemorolawang, it's about 45 kilometres by private car.
